It really started on Monday, April 1st. It was the first OB appointment where the doctor checked for any progress. I wasn't expecting anything as we still had three weeks until my due date. I kind of assumed this one would be seven days early like Nicole and Allyson each were. You can imagine my shock when she told me I was already dilated to a 4 and was 75% effaced. I literally felt nothing except for the Braxton Hicks contractions I'd had for several months.
Dr. Litherland told me I'd probably go early. She said to come in if I felt any strong or regular contractions. I could not believe it. I went down for my weekly monitoring and ultrasound and called Britt to let him know preparations were about to be kicked into high gear. We hit Babies R Us that evening and I began ordering all kinds of things from Amazon Prime. Still, in my heart I felt I must have at least another couple of weeks since it is possible to walk around dilated to a 4 for that amount of time.
Fortunately, we already had our car seat, thanks to Mom & Dad Sedenko. Allyson had already started practicing with a doll.
She even began "driving" her baby around.
