Blizzard 2011

February 1st turned out to be a blizzard for much of the midwest. Springfield was in its path. Everyone went nuts stocking up the day before. I was a little late getting to the store.

I think everyone was worried after the big ice storm a few years ago when we lost power for weeks. Fortunately we didn't lose power during this storm! We did get some ice and about ten or twelve inches of snow.

This is late at night January 31 when the weather was just getting to us. This is our back deck off the kitchen.

First thing in the morning.

This is how hard the snow was coming down. I just opened the front door and took a quick video.

A little later.

Late afternoon.

You can see it's really coming down now!

That evening it started to taper off a little.

That night we decided to make cookies and take them to the neighbors...while it was still snowing. Both the kids were excited. Nicole LOVES the snow!

Usually the first thing she does is flop on her back and make a snow angel.

Allyson isn't quite as enthusiastic. Mainly because she loses her balance and falls easily.

On the way to our neighbor's door.

This is our neighbor, Shaun and their dog, Teddy. When we first moved here Nicole used to just stare at Shaun jumping on the trampoline. She just wanted to jump sooo bad. It wasn't long before she struck up a conversation. He's such a sweet kid and his mom and I became friends right away. He has two older sisters, one going to college and another about to getting married. Of course, the girls adore Teddy and their cat, Muffin.

One more snow angel for the road.
