Snowed In

Nicole, so far, has missed four days of school because of post-blizzard road conditions. The main roads aren't bad but many of the residential streets aren't plowed and school buses can't navigate them. Plus, the temperatures are falling below zero and the kiddos that walk to school or, even worse, ride their bikes would have a tough time. It's actually been a lot of fun for us!

Making tents in the living room.

Did I mention we had lunch in the tent?

Bundling up and playing in the snow.

Little critters. During the blizzard I actually saw a squirrel playing on our roof and fall to the ground with a twist, land in the snow and run off. Wish I had that on video!

Hopefully you know the rule.

I love this picture of my beautiful girl.

We also did snow "painting". We put food coloring and water into some spray bottles and turned our snow into art!

I just had fun taking random shots around our back yard.

It may have been in the teens this afternoon but the sun was out and there was no wind! We felt quite comfortable.

Little Allyson was napping or I'm sure I would have been forced to clean off the swing.

Icicles hanging from our roof.

The wood Britt meant to stack on the porch before the blizzard. : (

This is one of Britt's many ideas to get rid of the monstrous amounts of leaves. He tried burning them in this drum. But the smoke was a bit much, especially when the wind took it into our neighbor's yard. Oops.

It's sad but true that this is actually the best our back yard has looked in a long time. Because of all the trees there's not much grass so it's usually leaves or dirt.

We painted our snow angels. This is mine. (I was wearing Britt's huge snow suit so if this looks like a plus-sized angel, that's why!)

And Nicole's.

Britt's new bright red snow shovel. It's been put to good use this year!

We made a snow cheerleader!

We initially messed up on her face so just turned her head around. This is now the back of her head. Stereotypical two-faced cheerleader. (I said stereotypical!)

The front of our house. It was a cold but beautiful day.

And, finally, a drive through our neighborhood. I think it's beautiful!

Now to bunk down for the night. After smores of course. Nicole's friend was so cute. She said this was the best night of her life. Wow, now that's a compliment!!

Goodnight girls! Sweet, snowy dreams!!
