Papa Visits the Classroom

Today was a special day for many reasons. First, it was the last day of student appreciation week and the kids have been doing fun things like crazy hair day, jersey day, show and share day...today was mismatch day. I think we pulled it off pretty well! It was also the day the kindergartners were rewarded with their banana split party. For weeks now they've been working to learn how to spell a list of more than 30 first grade words. The more they learned the more toppings they earned!

MISMATCH DAY!!

Probably the thing that made today the most special was that Papa was in town. We didn't want Nicole to miss school today so Papa (and Mommy and Allyson) went to her class and read the kids a story.

It wasn't long before Allyson spotted her sister and decided to join the group.

Then it was time to line up for lunch.

On the way to the cafeteria.

Watching Dad squeeze onto the kid-sized benches was one of the funnier things I've ever seen.

Nicole was called to the front to be recognized for receiving a "Happy Husky." Happy Huskies are awards any teacher or staff member can give to kids for catching them doing something good. In the background you can hear Dad telling Allyson that Nicole was receiving an award. Then you hear him say, "Where are you going?" It wasn't until I saw her little hairbows in the viewfinder that I realized Allyson went up to find her sister.

After lunch the kids take a lunch walk.

After school Papa and Nicole worked on puzzles and then she suckered him into playing the Horton game. He was thrilled.

That evening we went to the mall, to Andy's (of course) and came home to watch "Despicable Me." What a great day!
