Memorial Day Camping Day 2

The second day of our trip started out with our favorite breakfast restaurant, Billy Gail's. It is a renovated old gas station/grocery store filled with antiques. The pancakes are - literally - the size of a hub cap! The girls love Billy Gail's because there are baskets of toys to play with and they get to take one home.

Allyson chose this little lizard but Gail let her choose another (dinosaur) because lizard was so small

Nicole chose this toy

Billy Gail's waiting room - notice baskets of toys on table
After breakfast we went to Lilley's Landing where they offered us a free jon boat for the day. Here is Nicole signing her trout stamp.

Lilley's has a playground the girls enjoyed before (and after) fishing.

The tackle box Nana and Papa bought Nicole last year

The first fish of the day is Julie's!

Unfortunately, Britt tells me it's a carp...a "bottom feeder." We threw it back.

Allyson and Nicole still had to touch it.

And Allyson catches her FIRST fish!

And Nicole catches a fish!

We decided to take a trip down toward Branson Landing.

This is the Hilton downtown. The recent tornado hit it pretty hard. You can still see many of the windows boarded up. We've stayed here and one of our favorite restaurants, Level 2 Steakhouse is here, although temporarily relocated across the street to the Landing.

The fountains shoot water every 30 minutes, I believe. On the hour fire comes out of the black cylinders. They hold concerts here, too. It's a fun place to shop.

It wasn't long before Allyson fell asleep.

Our catch for the day!

And Daddy cooked a Rainbow Trout dinner!

Followed by Smores.

And a couple of sleepy girls cozy in their tent.

And tonight Britt had his clock cleaned in Rummy.

  1. So, if I read this correctly when it came to the number of fish caught this is what we have...
    Julie - 1
    Allyson - 1
    Nicole - 1
    Britt - 0
    Way to go Davis girls!
And please tell me you let the girls touch the eyes of the fish? That's the funnest part!
